They say (via many internet forums) that rosewood makes the overall sound a bit soft and muddy and some even claim it has too much bottom end (bass?) with quick note decay but I couldn't disagree more! each string has incredible clarity!! *minds blown*

I feel the Fender Plus is a little "metallic", but I believe it is due to the difference in the wood on the fingerboard as well. I loved the fender plus look, that colors.

When I saw the NOS 58 Empire P bass in Agave Blue, I was in love. Now, this is NOS 58 Empire P bass in Silver sparkle is gorgeous as well. The struggle is real.

Almost the opposite of the purpose of this bass; seeing this kind of pickup so close to the neck... but I think this will sound interesting with a pick and rounds on full tone, and then compensate at the amp by turning down the bass and upping the lower mids. I am pretty sure it will not muddy anymore but very articulate. It will not be a P-bass sound but more towards a Gibson G3, very unique sounding pickup. I think the D and G string will have a massive amount of lower mid so the bass is allowed to be played very close to the headstock and still have the thick tone.

I didn’t even know these existed until I walked into the acoustic room at my local mom & pop and saw it hanging on the wall. This is a wonderful place where everything is accessible. It’s amazing. Nothing behind glass, nothing locked to the wall. None of those annoying little plastic things binding up the strings that reads “Ask for assistance!”…. When I saw the finish and the shape I was immediately curious. Once I saw the $3k price tag, I HAD to pick it up. After a single strum, I was sat on the floor for 20 minutes playing this guitar. I was nearly in tears at how beautiful the tone was, how responsive and easy to play. I’ve only ever had cheap acoustics and the old Nippon Gakki Yamaha I played live for about 15 years was like wrestling a bear. What I’m trying to say is YES. This guitar is all that and more. I do have to admit, this is an AMAZING looking bass! However, synthetic nut instead of a bone nut? Why? Seems like the only "down side". Thoughts?

Not my favorite finish or I'd buy it myself, but those 00028 authentics are MONSTERS. If you've got some cash jingling around, well worth it!

My local guitar has one of these 000-15 SM 12 fret. It’s a great guitar. I keep going back to it to play it. I have the 000-15 M and a Gibson J45 as well.

Prefer this over Fender’s videos. They have the artists talk so much you barely hear the guitar. Ironic that CBS doesn’t use their production skills to make great demo videos.

I am watching these Thinline videos today and REALLY wanting to like either a Tele or Strat but in all the videos I have watched the Thinline guitars sound like they are being played "underwater" compared to the solid bodies.☹

Anthony, the current run of Modern Deluxe Martin guitars uses a standard steel truss rod. They lost their titanium supplier during the shutdown. It's not even Monday, and this shoed up. Thanks.

That Ultra sounds like it has the treble rolled off or something. Very dead sounding compared to the less expensive Player Plus. Kind of weird.

I bought two as i could not decide between this and the higher priced natural. I wanted to pimp one out. The Electrics and pickups are ok. There lower volume output than my Natural. The size of the neck is smaller than the Natural. I thought the woods and general build were not as good as the Natural. So i kept the Natural one. But i loved the Casino so much that i went after a year buy a USA Epiphone Casino!

Should i buy mustang or epiphone thunderbird IV?

A few years back I owned a G&L ASAT that was the exact same finish and same pickguard. Visually it was identical to Susan’s guitar. The MFD pickups had been replaced with Duncan Alnico II matched Tele set. Watching this video, yeah I’m pretty much an idiot for selling it! (Or maybe I traded it?)

Only reason I wouldn’t get one of the Empire 58’s is the 9.5 radius. I’ve tried to like it, but I just don’t. I’m a 7.25 radius guy. And I can instantly tell the difference. Other than that, those Empire 58’s look and sound awesome.

I honestly like both. I enjoy a good NOS that I can play a ton and watch it relic over the years. I also enjoy some of the more tastefully done relics as well. I have some of those, too. For me though, it really depends on the instrument and how well I connect with it. In addition to that, I have owned a few pre-cbs fenders all original and worn and I like those as well. That being said, what I don’t like is when anyone decides they want to throw shade at someone else for liking what they like.

Overall a good video. I'm looking for my first bass and sticking to short scales, so I just tried the Mini last night, like you said, for the price, not bad. Two comments on the video. 1. Great beginner tip about plucking back by the bridge. I'll have to explore this. 2. No disrespect meant by this, but short scale basses are stuck with this "kids' toy" rap. I hope to see the people selling / promoting these instruments present them for what they are. IE; Built for anyone with smaller hands or arms, people who travel, someone who needs a lighter weight bass due to health issues, etc. Leo Fender really stuck Short Scale basses with a stigma from the 60's when first promoting them as a "kid's bass". Again, no disrespect meant.
